Over 160 entries were received for the annual DMS Trinity/Losi Shoot out in 2004. Many people were turned away as the hosts catered for a number of different classes including touring car, 2WD and 4WD off road combined.

Each of the classes featured some serious competition as competitors from around the country attended the two-day event. The track would be an all-carpet affair and all the classes would race on the same layout including the off road buggies, although there would be the addition of a couple of jumps for the buggies.

The drivers to look out for in Modified were going to be Andy Moore, Chris Grainger, Glenn Doman, Chris Ashton, David Spashett and Darren Bloomfield whilst in Stock last year's winner Steve Henry and Gavin Clinch looked to be the favourites. In the 19 turn Super Stocks, Dominic Skinner, Ricky Copsey and Dave Ringsall looked to be the front-runners.

In Stock, the Trinity powered Losi of Simon Reeves proved to be a thorn in the side of Gavin Clinch's Xray before the BRCA National front runner sorted himself out in the final round to snatch TQ by just under a second. Mark Edwards lined up third with his Paradigm powered Associated, along with Simon Smith in fourth and these four would battle for the podium. Over the three legs, Gavin proved to be the man to beat and won the first two legs to take the overall win whilst Simon took the final leg victory to secure second spot ahead of Mark.

Although there had been some great races in the other classes, the most attention had been placed on the Modified category of the touring cars. David Spashett (Losi/Peak) had led the field initially before Andy Moore moved to the front with his Peak powered Xray. Darren Bloomfield had suffered mixed fortunes in the early rounds and although set a time in round three, had a poor round four. As the drivers went into the last qualifier, Darren made amends and set the pace, pushing Andy all the way to take TQ by making the extra lap to put him on pole from Andy and David.

Under immense pressure from TC ace Andy, young Darren took a superb win in leg one before the positions were reversed in leg two and Andy took the win for Xray and Peak from Darren's Losi. The hall was packed for the third and final leg, which was to be the decider. For the third time, it was a clean start with all the drivers showing a respect for each other. Darren led but Andy was in a rush to get past. Frustration eventually got the better of Andy as he pushed his way through dropping Darren down to around fifth place. The race at the front had been close for all of the legs as the Yokomo of Chris Grainger and the Losi of David Spashett were running closely behind. When the leaders came into contact, it immediately elevated these two up a place but the drama was not about to end. Darren began to charge back up as Chris made his move on Andy for the lead at the same spot where Andy had pushed past Darren. The end result of the coming together was David moving into a lead he was not to lose. Darren recovered to second whilst Andy could only finished fifth. This ensured Darren took the overall victory from Andy and Dave.
